I had to include this picture....when Caden saw me in my overalls, he (on his own!) went and found a pair that he could put on to match Momma. So cute!
The next morning, we told them we had a surprise to show them. We had them hold hands and walk around the house to the back...

Here's a few individual pictures of what this new play space holds:African village, painted by a Togolese friend
Giant Chalkboard - Caden drew the little person and Corban drew all the little sticks
Hopscotch - Corban can't actually jump, but he is super cute when he's trying. Caden can't seem to jump enough, he loves it.
Lastly, the alphabet board. We decided to paint the outlines so they could practice drawing on the insides. My mom gave me a good idea to let them paint the letters with water, the concrete will change colors but dry out...perfect, no clean up!
This last picture is also a good view of what the whole area looks like. The Village Scene is just to the left of the edge of the picture.Happy birthday boys and may you create many childhood memories in this special place...we love you!

SO CUTE! What kind of paint did you use on the walls? and the chalkboard- how did you get a piece like that and mount it? It is so neat I might try to copy it for our boys. Or at least something like it. AWESOME idea! So so neat!

sheri, i couldn't tell you exactly what kind of paint it is...we bought it here in town. i'm pretty sure it's oil based though b/c it was super hard to get off my hands. the chalkboard is leftover chalkboard paint that we brought from america. yes, we just painted it straight onto the concrete. it's not a super smooth surface, but the boys don't really care. feel free to copy any or all of it...i know what it's like to have to really use your imagination to create unique things for our boys here in west africa. ;)
What a neat idea! That is something my kids would be thrilled over. We have talked about painting a chalkboard square in our house....the kids would love it.
This is so cute! You did such a great job. I know the boys will love this for many years to come.
