Our Thanksgiving

I'm sure our Thanksgiving was a bit different than yours...but you might be surprised to hear that was probably very similar too. We celebrated with other Americans at the West African Conference Center down in Lome.
Here's the highlights:
  • we at turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, and other "traditional" dishes
  • we had more pumpkin pies and fruit pies than could be eaten
  • we celebrated with family - probably the thing that made it feel most "normal"!
  • there were lots of kids
  • we ate too much and were tired afterwards (thank you turkey)
  • it was close to 100 degrees
  • black Friday shopping...ok, it wasn't really black Friday here...but we did do a little shopping

Our black Friday shopping included 2 new bouncy balls....a big one for Caden, and a small one for Corban. (Thank you Gamma and Papa!)
Gamma's Thanksgiving was complete with her Diet Pepsi...who knew you could find Diet Pepsi in Togo, West Africa. ;)
The boys had cute matching "Happy Fall" shirts...unfortunately, they were white. If you can see the red dirt on Corban's feet, you can imagine what the shirts looked like when we took them off.

Yes, it was different....but it was still Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for all the people that helped make it just that...a day of thanks.

Hey Guys,
We can probably say we will NEVER celebrate Thanksgiving in such an "unusual environment" again! But it was SO SPECIAL to be with you 4 and so many others that love God! "Be joyful, give thanks, pray constantly!" love, Gamma & Papa xoxox (ps Caden sing a little song for Gamma please...I miss it!)

Sounds like you had a Great Thanksgiving. We are "giving thanks" for that. =-)The boys have certainly had lots of grandparent time these last few months. I know a couple of sets of grandparents that are having grandchildren withdrawals. I think that I can speak for the grandparents when I say that April can not come soon enough!!
Love to all 4,
Nanna and Gran'Pa

Happy Thanksgiving to you! We too had an unusual yet somewhat normal Thanksgiving here in Mexico. But what I really had to comment on was Ms. Joy and her Diet Pepsi - something I have always associated with her since I was a kid. Too funny! Although if your "Diet Pepsi" is anything like our Pepsi Light here, it tastes NOTHING like Diet Pepsi!

Great story and pics. I've been watching your site closely wondering if anybody caught on film my sister dancing in Africa. I'll keep looking! Love, Aunt Paula

Glad you got to enjoy Turkey with family and friends. That's really about all you need. Can't believe how big the boys are getting!
